Rising 354 meters (1,161 ft) above sea level, Pedra do Telégrafo is located in Barra de Guaratiba, within a vast protected area of Atlantic Forest that features pristine beaches, rugged mountains, and stunning views of the famous Marambaia Sandbank.
The hike to the summit takes approximately one hour and is considered easy, making it suitable for most fitness levels. Along the way, the trail winds through lush native forest while revealing increasingly impressive views of Rio’s wild western coastline.
At the summit, visitors reach one of Brazil’s most photographed viewpoints. The famous rock formation creates an incredible optical illusion, making it appear as if you are hanging over a dramatic cliff. Beyond the iconic photos, the viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of untouched beaches, Atlantic Forest-covered mountains, and the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
After the hike, we head to the beautiful Grumari Beach, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most preserved and scenic beaches. Here, you can relax, enjoy the natural surroundings, and take a refreshing swim in the ocean.
