Pedra do Sino trekking offers a challenging hike to stunning views!

Discover one of Brazil’s most iconic mountain adventures in the breathtaking Serra dos Orgaos National Park. Famous for its dramatic granite peaks and extraordinary landscapes, the park is home to Pedra do Sino, the highest summit in the range, reaching 2,275 meters (7,465 feet) above sea level.
The journey begins in the mountain town of Teresopolis, located approximately 100 km (62 miles) from Rio de Janeiro. From the park entrance, we follow an 11 km (6.9 miles) trail through one of the best-preserved sections of the Atlantic Forest.
The ascent takes around four hours and is considered moderately challenging. Along the way, hikers enjoy lush mountain scenery, crystal-clear streams, and refreshing waterfalls that provide perfect opportunities to rest and appreciate the natural surroundings.
As the trail climbs higher, the landscape gradually opens up, revealing spectacular views of the Serra dos Orgaos mountain range. Upon reaching the summit of Pedra do Sino, hikers are rewarded with one of the most impressive panoramas in Brazil. From the top, it is possible to admire iconic peaks such as the famous God’s Finger, the surrounding mountains, Guanabara Bay, the city of Rio de Janeiro, and even the Atlantic Ocean on clear days.
The summit area offers plenty of time to explore, photograph the stunning scenery, and observe the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this remarkable mountain environment.

• Recommendations: wear light clothing and trekking shoes, bring a backpack with water, snacks, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, personal medications, cap or hat, sunglasses, sweater or jacket, rain coat, passport or ID card, cash for tickets and extras.

• This trekking is recommended for people in good physical conditions and with an adventure spirit.
• The trail has no technical difficulty. But it’s a long way up the mountain. It is recommended that participants are in good physical condition for this tour. Also, good trekking/trail shoes with grippy soles.
• If the chosen date or the number of participants is not available, contact us to schedule the tour with your private group.
• Round trip transfer included in South Zone of Rio: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botafogo, Flamengo and surroundings. Contact us if you are staying in other places in Rio.
