Standing at 696 meters (2,283 ft) above sea level, Pedra Bonita is the perfect choice for visitors who want to experience the beauty of Rio’s Atlantic Rainforest without undertaking a long or demanding hike. Most of the ascent is made by vehicle, allowing you to enjoy some of the area’s most iconic attractions before reaching the trailhead.
The tour includes stops at two of Rio’s most famous viewpoints. First, the historic Chinese View (Vista Chinesa), renowned for its spectacular scenery overlooking the city. Then, the famous Hang Gliding Ramp, where hang gliders and paragliders take off daily, creating an unforgettable spectacle above the mountains, forest, and ocean.
The hike itself takes approximately 45 minutes and is considered easy, following well-maintained trails through the lush Atlantic Forest. Along the way, visitors are surrounded by native vegetation and stunning natural landscapes, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination.
At the summit, the reward is truly unforgettable. Thanks to its privileged location next to the majestic Pedra da Gávea, Pedra Bonita offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Rio de Janeiro. From the top, it is possible to admire the Tijuca Forest, São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Rio’s famous beaches, Christ the Redeemer, and many other iconic landmarks.
Unlike many mountain peaks, Pedra Bonita features a wide and open summit, providing plenty of space to relax, take incredible photos, and fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery.
