Pedra da Gavea (Gavea’s Rock), is one of the largest granite mountain by the sea in the world, inside Tijuca Forest National Park.
The trail is one of the most startling and rewarding of all hiking tours in Rio de Janeiro.
The summit stands at 842m / 2763ft above sea level and allow us to enjoy Rio’s most famous landmarks.
The ascent takes around two and a half hours, but it is only near the top that the adrenaline begins. Despite a steep but short rock climbing section (15m / 49ft) there is nothing to fear in Pedra da Gavea hiking tour. It’s all perfectly safe and requires no experience.
From up there, the view of Tijuca Forest, beaches and the entire city is wonderful.
On our way down, we will do rappel on the rock section.
It is one of the most demanding and beautiful trails in the City!
* Important: close to the top, there is a short rocky section where we use safety equipment, easy, quick, totally safe and perfect for beginners (no previous climbing experience required).
