Serra dos Orgaos National Park
Located in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro, is a stunning mountainous region known for its impressive rock formations, diverse ecosystems, and some of the country’s best hiking trails.
Established in 1939, this park spans over 20,000 hectares (49,400 acres) and is part of the Serra do Mar mountain range. The park’s name, which translates to “Range of Organs,” comes from the organ pipe-like shape of the peaks, with the most famous formations being Dedo de Deus (God’s Finger) and Pedra do Sino.
Serra dos Orgaos is part of the Atlantic Forest biome, one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world.
It’s a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a variety of activities, including hiking, climbing, wildlife observation, and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls in the region.
The park is home to a wide range of plant and animal species, including orchids, bromeliads, sloths, capuchin monkeys, toucans, and the rare golden lion tamarin. The diversity of flora and fauna makes it a popular spot for birdwatching and nature photography.
