Great experience. It was a combination of hiking and climbing to the top of Pedra da Gavea, one of the best views of Rio de Janeiro. The guides provided our safety equipment and attention during the tour. It is strongly recommend for those who are seeking for a unique adventure!
We had a blast! Weber was amazing and he was fluent in English, which made the whole experience better because he was able to provide us additional information about Brazil and the Rio de Janiero area. I would definitely recommend this experience.
We did the Sugar Loaf Hike on a weekend - the views were beautiful, and the hike up is a great way to see Rio and wonder a bit off the beaten track. Our guide was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, punctual, reliable and very professional. If a small adventure is your thing, then go with RioXtreme!
We had an incredible experience hiking up Tijuca’s Peak! The trail is a shaded route through the rain forest for most of the hike, before finishing the last bit of the hike in an open area that provides incredible views of Rio and the surrounding areas. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and set a perfect pace for the hike. We’d highly recommend!
Weber was great and took good care of us the whole time! He knew what he was doing and was great to talk to while we hiked/climbed. His English was great! The hike was beautiful despite there being a large cloud over the top of Sugar Loaf. Very adventurous and rewarding. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an alternate way to get up Sugar Loaf.
This hike is once in a lifetime! Especially with Xtreme tours who guide you through the whole process and make you feel extra safe! The hike is a tough one, but the views up top make it all worth it! If you want to do Pedra Gávea Weber is your guy! He’s so knowledgeable, and makes it feel as if your Hiking with a friend. Would definitely recommend this tour to all!
Really perfect guide! Knows all animal, history facts...telling stories about local life, answer all your questions. Highly recommended!
What an amazing Day. Our tour guide Paola was amazing: fun, informative and drove like an absolute champ! Ordinarily we would organize our own hiking tours but since the trail started at the top of a favela and is extremely hard to find the entrance, we opted to purchase a tour. It had rained a bit in the early morning so the trail was a bit slick. The trail itself is fairly narrow with some spiked fern plants you have to watch out for. It is fairly steep but it isn’t a long trail and the view from the top was absolutely worth it! Impossible to take a bad pick! Great time and a great tour.
Our group went on a day trip, it was very nice, saw everything we needed to see and had a lot of fun doing it, would suggest small snacks and water for the trip, it is a long and busy day before Lunch.
Definitively a "must do" when in Rio, if you like magnificent sceneries, lush tropical forest, and coping with a personal physical challenge! It is essential to do that trip with a guide, and the one who accompanied us, Duda, was definitively the most gentle person, extremely professional and always ready to tell us where to put our feet and hands in the most challenging spots.

Pedra do Telegrafo (354m / 1162ft), one of the best Ecotourism hiking in Brazil, is located in a huge State park with its wonderful unspoiled beaches, lush forests and the Marambaia restinga. It is a great choice for those looking for an optimal relation between effort/trail time and attraction. The trail lasts around 1 hour and it is considered light. Returning from Pedra do Telegrafo (Telegraph’s Rock) to the city, we will stop for a sea bath at Grumari beach. The way back are through all the beaches along the shore of Rio, with nice spots to shoot photos. The attraction is located in Barra de Guaratiba (West Zone), aproximately 1 hour drive from South Zone of Rio.
